Bronx Academy for the Future Seeks Innovative Teachers for the 2005 - 2006 School YearBronx Academy for the Future is a high-tech middle and high school that opened in September 2004 as part of the New Century High Schools initiative.* Our mission is to promote the growth of our students as engaged Bronx citizens who actively dig into the work at hand and who recognize that they are essential members of their school and larger community. Bronx Academy students learn by doing. They use technology to investigate issues that are relevant and important to themselves and to their borough. Students at Bronx Academy for the Future are nurtured and followed by caring adults through an advisory system designed to reflect and respond to student voices. At full enrollment, Bronx Academy for the Future will be a small learning community for 525 students in grades 6 - 12. In September 2005, during our second year of development, we will educate 300 students: 75 sixth graders, 75 seventh graders, 75 ninth graders and 75 tenth graders.
