Our Curriculum

Bronx Academy students learn by doing. At BAFF, we believe that technology combined with hands-on experience keep students excited and makes learning relevant to real life. Our curriculum exceeds NYS standards and regents requirements. See below for a glimpse of the exiting hands-on projects students will participate in each year.

6th graders
explore their neighborhoods for links to the monumental buildings of the ancient world, learning how architectural style can convey messages of power and command, and experience the art of construction.

7th graders
collect water sample data to analyze and compare water quality and environmental issues that will directly impact their neighborhoods.

8th graders
write, shoot, edit and produce digital documentaries about their lives, which they present in a community film festival.

9th graders
learn about the movement of the stars and planets, sightlines and local climate, in order to design and build a neighborhood stargazing platform.

10th graders
derive the trigonometric relationships that enable them to calculate the heights of buildings in their neighborhood in order to build a 3-D scale model of their surroundings.

11th graders
review breaking news through polls, print and virtual material to analyze issues from multiple perspectives and present their conclusions at a community meeting.
