About Bronx Academy for the Future
Bronx Academy for the Future (BAFF) is dedicated to helping students become
engaged Bronx citizens. Through technology investigations
students recognize the real, relevant and
important issues of their communities, families and lives.
Effective citizenship is predicated on individual growth—emotional
and social, as well as academic. Bronx Academy for the Future is organized to
support and nurture long-term teacher-student relationships.
BAFF is a model for technology-supported,
project-based learning.
What makes Bronx Academy unique?
- BAFF students are nurtured in a small group advisory system.
- BAFF students learn by doing hands-on projects
with technology as
a tool.
- BAFF students participate in after-school and summer activities sponsored
by BAFF’s partners, including The After School Corporation and
Clearpool, Inc.
BAFF teachers work with our partner
organizations,
the Salvadori Center and Teaching Matters, to provide hands-on, technology
oriented lessons.
- BAFF parents are encouraged to participate in the daily life of the
students by serving as grade-level advisors and using technology for
communication.
